Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of people at risk or affected by kidney disease through education, prevention and support by increasing organ donation and transplantation.
Support
We are on a mission to save lives through early detection, education and patient support
Learning that your kidneys are not working as well as they should can be daunting. We’ll provide support through our support groups, coaching and assistance programs.
BENEFITS OF SUPPORT GROUPS
Our support groups work with those affected by a similar disease or condition and meet on a regular basis to exchange mutual support and discuss how to better cope with their diagnosis/disease. Studies have shown that support groups provide mental health benefits as well as knowing someone can relate to what you are experiencing.
Here are some of the benefits of participating in one of our groups:
- Feeling less lonely, isolated or judged
- Reducing distress, depression, anxiety or fatigue
- Talking openly and honestly about your feelings
- Improving skills to cope with challenges
- Staying motivated to manage chronic conditions or stick to treatment plans
- Gaining a sense of empowerment, control or hope
- Improving understanding of a disease and your own experience with it
- Getting practical feedback about treatment options
- Learning about health, economic or social resources
