Texas Kidney Foundation’s Knowledge2Action: Empowering Health Transformation
January 23 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeKnowledge2Action Empowering Health Transformation
Join the Texas Kidney Foundation in collaboration with the Mexican Consulate, Dream Voice, and D2 Strong, during Dream Week, we are igniting a transformative movement focused on kidney health. Our mission goes beyond information-sharing; we are catalyzing tangible, life-saving actions. This event will be screening two documentaries for both English and Spanish speaking members of our community bi-lingual.
Startling Statistics:
From 2010 to 2020, Bexar County witnessed over 64,000 cases of kidney failure, yet only a mere 6.6% of these individuals received a kidney transplant. This statistic highlights the urgent need for action and awareness in our community(1)

“Linked by Love,” crafted by MNITF, is a critically acclaimed digital series spanning six episodes, centered on the themes of kidney disease, transplantation, and the act of living donation. It specifically addresses the concerns of Black patients and their families grappling with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The series explores the intricacies of kidney transplantation, the nuances of family relationships, and the historical obstacles encountered by Black Americans within the healthcare system. The narrative is a compelling mix of humor and heartfelt moments, underlining the strength of familial bonds and the power of love. At this special event, attendees will have the opportunity to view an exclusive extended clip of the documentary, along with details on how to access the complete series.
“Fixing Paco” is an engaging telenovela-inspired series that chronicles the journey of the Fuentes family as they confront the daunting reality of Paco’s kidney failure.
