OVER A DECADE OF EXPERIENCE

Changing the Story of Kidney Health

At the Texas Kidney Foundation (TKF), we’re making Texas healthy again by starting where health begins—right in our local communities. We believe prevention is the smartest investment, and that early detection and treatment save both lives and livelihoods. Through our FREE kidney health screenings, we’re helping Texans catch chronic and genetic kidney diseases before they spiral into crisis.

TKF tackles kidney disease at its root—bringing education, early detection testing, treatment navigation, and nutrition support directly to neighborhoods across the state. From our Neighbors Helping Neighbors Health Fairs to our R.E.A.C.H. early detection program, from Community Health Clubs to H.O.P.E. transplant advocacy, every initiative is built around a simple truth: better food, smarter prevention, and stronger communities create a better future for Texas. We’re not waiting for the system to change—we’re changing it ourselves, one Texas community at a time.

OUR MISSION

Early Detection, Treatment, Lasting Health for Texans

Empowering communities to prevent kidney disease and protect their future.

At the Texas Kidney Foundation, our mission is clear: to make Texas healthy again by preventing kidney disease and slowing its progression. We believe that health starts in our local communities—where neighbors look out for one another and knowledge turns into action. That’s why we bring FREE kidney health screening, early detection testing, and education directly to Texans through our core programs: R.E.A.C.H. (Renal Education and Action for Community Health), Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Community Health Workers, Community Health Clubs, the H.O.P.E. transplant initiative, and our mobile health app. Every screening, every conversation, and every act of prevention brings us closer to a Texas where people live longer, stronger, and healthier lives—because when Texans help Texans, we all thrive.

OUR VISION

A Healthier Future Begins With Prevention

Empowering Texans to understand their kidneys, protect their health, and make Texas healthy

We envision a Texas—and a world—where kidney disease no longer steals lives in silence. A future where every person knows their kidney health and has the tools to prevent disease and slow its progression through early detection, education, and better nutrition. Through our Knowledge2Action 2030 Health Transformation, the Texas Kidney Foundation is building that future now—one community at a time. We see a state where prevention comes first, where Community Health Workers, Neighbors Helping Neighbors health fairs, and Community Health Clubs bring life-saving knowledge to every corner of Texas. Our vision is simple but powerful: to end preventable kidney disease and empower Texans to protect their health before it’s too late.

WHAT SETS US APART

Where Innovation Meets Community-Powered Prevention

Through mobile labs, CHWs, and real-time results, we’re proving that neighbors—not systems—drive the future of healthcare.

While others talk, we act. The Texas Kidney Foundation is not just raising awareness—we’re rebuilding how healthcare reaches people. We’re the only nonprofit, consumer-led organization in Texas operating a medium-complexity community lab that brings FREE early detection testing directly to neighborhoods. Our team uses point-of-care technology to deliver immediate results—eGFR, uACR, A1C, cholesterol, genetic testing, and more—so families can take action before kidney disease progresses. We are proudly industry-free and community-powered. Our independence allows us to work side-by-side with families, schools, and local partners—turning prevention into a statewide movement. Every screening, every CHW-trained advocate, and every community health club is proof that neighbors helping neighbors isn’t just a saying—it’s a system for saving lives. Because at TKF, we believe knowledge isn’t just power—it’s prevention. And prevention is the smartest investment Texas can make.
