The Honorable Grace M. Uzomba

The Honorable Grace M. Uzomba brings a distinguished record of military service, legal expertise, and community leadership to the Texas Kidney Foundation (TKF) Board. A retired U.S. Army Major, she served her country for 20 years before transitioning into law, earning her J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law. Since then, she has built a respected legal career in San Antonio, representing families, nonprofits, and veterans with compassion and dedication.

Judge Uzomba made history in 2018 when she was elected to the Bexar County Court at Law No. 2, becoming one of the first three Black women elected to the bench in Bexar County. During her tenure, she was recognized with the Bexar County Pioneer Award (2020) for her trailblazing contributions to the judiciary. Known for her advocacy on behalf of veterans, she co-founded the Bexar County Veterans Treatment Court, a nationally recognized model that provides justice, accountability, and care for those who served.

Her career reflects a deep commitment to equity, service, and empowerment. Judge Uzomba has also been active in the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), helping military families navigate grief and healing. Fluent in Spanish and Igbo, she has served as a bridge across diverse communities, demonstrating her belief in justice and dignity for all.

At TKF, Judge Uzomba’s leadership and perspective strengthen the Foundation’s governance and advocacy work. Her background in law, military service, and community engagement aligns with TKF’s mission of prevention, education, and empowerment—ensuring Texans have access to healthier futures.
