Martha Lopez serves as a Community Health Worker Instructor (CHW) with the Texas Kidney Foundation, where she not only supports families directly but also trains and mentors other CHWs to expand the reach of prevention-first care across Texas. Recognized as a 2022 Nonprofit & Corporate Philanthropy Award Winner, Martha is widely respected for her compassionate leadership and her ability to connect with communities that are often overlooked by traditional healthcare systems.
Before joining TKF, Martha coordinated the Ventanilla de Salud program at the Mexican Consulate in San Antonio, where she built a trusted bridge between Latino families and vital healthcare resources. Her work helped thousands of individuals navigate complex systems with confidence, offering culturally competent education, screenings, and referrals that turned fear into empowerment.
At TKF, Martha continues this mission by leading outreach at Neighbors Helping Neighbors health fairs and other community events. She ensures that every screening comes with clear guidance, education, and support for follow-up care. Just as importantly, she is responsible for training the next generation of Community Health Workers, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and empathy needed to serve as trusted advocates in their own communities.
Through her dual role as an instructor/mentor and frontline advocate, Martha Lopez embodies TKF’s “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” model. Her leadership demonstrates how investing in people multiplies impact—strengthening families, building healthier communities, and ensuring that prevention and early detection are accessible to all Texans.
