Tiffany Jones-Smith, CEO Texas Kidney Foundation
Tiffany is an outspoken leader determined to raise awareness regarding Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). She began her career at Baylor University after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Foreign Service. She found her calling in the development office at Baylor. Tiffany turned around a $34,000 program and in 24 months increased pledges and donations to over $1,000,000. She enjoys building and updating programs. The next leg of her career took her to Rice University, where she increased donations by 20 percent through the Call Center, Parents Program, Faculty and Staff Program and the Annual Fund. She managed a major gifts pipeline along with state and national territories. She has run multiple successful businesses. She is a writer and has been published in the Houston Chronicle, San Antonio Express, and syndicated magazines. She is currently working on a book about her transformation journey. The book chronicles how she’s learned to live with less, all she really needs is her family. She is also scheduled to begin her MBA in the Spring of 2020. She is a patient advocate and a Kidney Crusader.
Esme Guerra, RN Director of Kidney Check Program
Ms. Guerra is a Registered Nurse and a Certified Dialysis Nurse. She is the Director of the Texas Kidney Check Program at Texas Kidney Foundation since 2015. She worked for 33 years at the University Hospital where she specialized in the outpatient and impatient clinics, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, adult CKD. She has also been a Vascular Access Coordinator and Renal Nurse Educator.
Raul Ortega, LVN
SAMMC (29 YEARS CIVIL SERVICE) with security clearance and retired from United States Air Force Reserve with 25 years of duty both active and reserve. Roy worked at Methodist Cardiac wing for 13 YEARS caring for both open heart surgeries and heart catheterizations. He also at Wilford Hall in the dermatology clinic for 10 years and Santa Rosa Hospital for 19 years. We are proud of his service and experience he brings to the TFK team. Roy has one son and two grandkids. He enjoys watching sports and use to play softball.
